Coatesville School District Two Years Ago

This is the time of year for high school proms and graduations. Two years ago on June 4, 2013, racially charged messages exchanged between Coatesville School District Superintendent Richard Como and Jim Donato Director of Athletics and Activities using district-issued cell phones. September of 2013 the Coatesville School Board convened and there was a public outcry including this issue, the length of time that it took for the incident to become public knowledge, the back door meetings which occurred over the summer and last but certainly NOT least, was the insult on top of the injury that these two racist individuals were allowed to resign with their retirement pensions intact!!

This incident was just the beginning.  In the spring of 2015 after a lengthy investigation by the Chester County District Attorney’s office, Richard Como, 68, was arraigned on 51 felony counts of theft, fraud, and related charges at a Coatesville district court.

Why can’t I let this situation rest you ask???  Has justice truly prevailed??  Once again the themes of politics and money over shadows the core racist behavior of individuals who began to believe he/they were untouchable. Racism is power based and Mr. Como who has white privilege maintained his control by leveraging against white people who were not as savvy as he, to do the bidding with and for him.

More horrendous is that he gained the support of minority parents by appearing to the masses that he had a genuine concern for the welfare and future of their children.  Como was a powerful white person who had an economic agenda…to steal money from the school district, community, taxpayers, residents and the children.

I personally know several minority parents whose children went through the Coatesville school district as well as, excelled in numerous high school sports. They ALL believed Como’s sincerity when visits were paid at the hospital when their child was injured or he congratulated them when their child was one of the major contributors to a Coatesville High School sports team winning a regional or state competition.

The bottom line is this, while I believe that those who commit fraud and theft need to be prosecuted, I am also of the belief that the Chester County District Attorney’s office could have done more than score political points. They could have created numerous opportunities in which to shed light on these racist individuals and their derogatory and racists behaviors and characterization of innocent children throughout the investigation and legal proceedings.

So what happened to the children who are the TRUE victims in this entire story as well as their families and the Black community as a whole?? I don't want to hear "well we can't prosecute them for hate crimes but at least we got them for 51 felonies".   Yes this is true and as a resident of Chester County, I am relieved to some degree. But from a Anti-Racist  perspective and a mother, once again, the power base of the dominate white culture both the white collar criminals and the Judicial system, took control and changed the entire story line, by  putting the vile racist characterization of children as secondary  back page news.

MEMORIAL DAY OBSERVANCE
MEDAL OF HONOR

WWII Black soldiers remained segregated even though Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 which freed slaves held in the Confederate States. There were 464 military personnel who were awarded the highest honor...The Medal of Honor.

ZERO African Americans were awarded
The Medal of Honor
Fast forward to 1993:

A 1993 study commissioned by the Army investigated racial discrimination in the awarding of medals. At the time, no Medals of Honor had been awarded to black soldiers who served in World War II. After an exhaustive review of files, the study recommended that several black Distinguished Service Cross recipients be upgraded to the Medal of Honor.

On January 13, 1997, President Bill Clinton awarded the Medal to seven African American World War II veterans; of these, only Vernon Baker was still alive.
Vernon Baker and President Clinton

I asked myself the question "why award the Distinguished Service Cross medals to African American soldiers but not the upgraded Medal of Honor"? There has to be a more logical reason why not.

Then the light bulb went off in my head!! There had to have  been additional benefits attached to receiving the Medal of Honor and Lord and behold unfortunately I was correct.

Lets take a look at today's benefits.

Privileges and courtesies

The Medal of Honor confers special privileges on its recipients. By law, recipients have several benefits:

  • Entitled to receive a monthly pension above and beyond any military pensions or other benefits for which they may be eligible. The pension is subject to cost-of-living increases; as of December 1, 2012, it is $1,259 a month.
  • Enlisted recipients of the Medal of Honor are entitled to a supplemental uniform allowance.
  • This benefit allows the recipient to travel as he or she deems fit across geographical locations, and allows the recipient's dependents to travel either Overseas-Overseas, Overseas-Continental US, or Continental US-Overseas when accompanied by the recipient.
  • Special identification cards and commissary and exchange privileges are provided for Medal of Honor recipients and their eligible dependents.
  • Recipients are granted eligibility for interment at Arlington National Cemetery, if not otherwise eligible.
  • Fully qualified children of recipients are eligible for admission to the United States military academies without regard to the nomination and quota requirements.
  • Recipients receive a 10 percent increase in retired pay.
  • Those awarded the medal after October 23, 2002, receive a Medal of Honor Flag. The law specified that all 103 living prior recipients as of that date would receive a flag.
  • Recipients receive an invitation to all future presidential inaugurations and inaugural balls.
I WISH I HAD EARNED THESE BENEFITS!!!

WHAT DO YOU SEE??

Keep in mind the next time you see a Black male youth in your neighborhood, what will be your very first thought about him??
You do not have to share that first thought with anyone but yourself.

Take the time to acknowledge that these thoughts are directly associated with the messages we have ALL received as children through adulthood from society beginning with the media. Take the time and begin to take notice of how the different races, gender and so on, are depicted on the news.

This young Man and his friends searched the neighborhood on their bikes. Temar had a feeling he would find her when he spotted a car with a man and young child fitting the description given by police.

You see, young Temar saved this 5 year old little girl from a white sexual predator who kidnapped her.
Temar Boggs another youth, another HERO!!

and My Response

LAKE MARY, Fla. (AP) — A bullet missed George Zimmerman's head when he was involved in a shooting Monday in Florida, his attorney said, but the former neighborhood watch volunteer wasn’t seriously hurt in his latest encounter with law enforcement.
Zimmerman was sprayed with glass from his vehicle’s windshield and other debris in the Orlando suburb of Lake Mary, said his attorney Don West.
“His injuries would be considered minor,” West said. “The bullet missed his head. I think it broke a window and lodged in his vehicle.”
The Lake Mary Police Department said in a Twitter post that officers had responded to a shooting involving Zimmerman. The tweet provided no other details, and a spokeswoman didn’t return multiple phone calls.
Zimmerman was released from a hospital. He thinks he may know who is responsible for the shooting and is cooperating with authorities, West said.
Zimmerman was acquitted in 2013 of fatally shooting Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager, in a case that sparked protests and national debate about race relations. The Justice Department later announced it was not bringing a civil rights case against Zimmerman.
Since then, Zimmerman has had several brushes with the law, including:
— He was charged with aggravated assault after being accused of throwing a wine bottle at an ex-girlfriend, Brittany Brunelle. The case was dropped in January after she recanted her story and refused to cooperate.
— Following another domestic confrontation, he was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, battery and criminal mischief after his then-girlfriend said he pointed a gun at her face during an argument, smashed her coffee table and pushed her out of the house they shared. Samantha Scheibe decided not to cooperate with detectives, and prosecutors didn’t pursue the case.
— Zimmerman was accused by his estranged wife of smashing an iPad during an argument at the home they had shared. Shellie Zimmerman initially told a dispatcher her husband had a gun, though she later said he was unarmed. No charges were filed because of a lack of evidence. The dispute occurred days after Shellie Zimmerman filed divorce papers.
— Last September, a driver said Zimmerman threatened to kill him, asking “Do you know who I am?” during a road confrontation in their vehicles. The driver decided not to pursue charges, and police officers were unable to move forward without a car tag identified or witnesses.
You know what I had to say...
I wish I would have taken 5 minutes to reflect on the Tanner post before I responded because the main issue is not me or their characterization of me, but rather their focus.

They are more worried about Zimmerman "finding his way in life before he gets himself killed or kills or hurts someone else" rather than the child he murdered or the Black community and their years of struggle in this country or how about what they can do as white people to change the state of our country in regards to the treatment of BLACK AMERICA.

How about We the White Race  start with that!!!

Yes, I acknowledge that my responses do not always have a Kumbaya feel to them, they are not meant to. Two wrongs do not make a right however, what will it take to wake up the ignorance of the majority  white race??

I can guarantee that the whites who murdered, lynched, maimed, or who are just plan mean spirited oppressors, don't sing Kumbaya to the Black Community!

New National Anthem by TI

We as white people have NO clue what it is like to be a Black Man in this country!
The Asain culture their sons  are respected.
The African American culture parents bury their sons.

What does that say about us

the white people as a part of the human race??

Baltimore’s State Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced on Friday morning that there is probable cause to file criminal charges against the officers involved in Freddie Gray’s death.

As far as I'm concerned, the 6 go into general population...no protective custody. No one protected Freddie Gray!!

1st Degree Murder = the Death Penalty!!! BOTTOM LINE !!
